Thanks for all of the nice comments! Pesto is such a fun thing to make - you can use all sorts of different things to make it, and then it in turn can go on chicken, pasta, potatoes, etc!

Wild foods are pretty nifty. :)

I love wild food! I collected nettles and comfrey earlier this season and am desperately looking for garlic mustard. It's a terrible invasive weed here in Oregon, but I can't seem to identify/find it! :)
I made a great pesto recently with last season's basil (preserved in oil.. I didn't use it, but am using the pesto), this seasons parsley along with garlic, walnut oil and pumpkin seeds. It is a fantastic pesto and I've been enjoying it mixed into salad dressings.
Great post!

I love that you subbed in the wild foods for the more tame ones. I can imagine the co-mingling of the flavors even now. Can't wait to try it.

I really love ramps - better than garlic or leeks! And I use leeks a lot for soups and stocks and things. I'll definately be switching to ramps during its short season.

Ah, ramps! I just tried these for the first time recently and I'm in love. Such a beautiful flavor and I agree, the wild foods make me feel all renegade and fearless :)
